YouTube is crammed with videos of pissed off NFL fans standing around fire pits and metal drums ablaze tossing team clothing into the flames. Here are some suggestions: put it in a box in your attic or your basement until this blows over, which it will. NFL teams and owners are getting their heads right on this, thanks to President Trump. It’s only a matter of time before the owners figure out they have to do right by the fans. When that happens, why spend more money to get new gear to again line the pockets of your team?

Here’s another suggestion. Take it to some Goodwill or Salvation Army or St. Vincent de Paul or another charitable organization. Give it to a cousin, nephew, or neighbor kid. We’re not ISIS! We don’t destroy culture that offends us.

I’m seeing a lot of Patriots, Steelers, Packers and other fans just flip out. Those are good teams with some fans left who can’t afford what the NFL charges for gear.  I would take that Ray Nitschke jersey off the guy above in a blink.  But he burned it.  What the hell is the point of that?

  • Goodwill is NOT a charity. I’d say people who burn their stuff will be less likely to spend money on the NFL in the future even if this gets sorted out, which it never really will. Time will just pass, that is all. And why would you give a jersey to a kid, when that organization is filled with exactly the opposite of what you would want kids to follow as heroes?
