We were feeling pretty tolerant and inclusive with that photo of Abby Wambach kissing her wife after Wambach’s final soccer game for the USA Team.  We even thought it was baked into the cake that Wambach would campaign for Hillary Clinton last year, along with Lena Dunham.

Now it turns out Wambach divorced Sarah Huffman to marry “Christian mommy blogger” Glennon Doyle Melton, who divorced her husband, whose name is Craig Melton.  And Wambach wants the world to know she bagged a “Christian mommy.”

Here’s how Melton broke it to her three kids:

“We are a modern, beautiful family,” she wrote last year. “Our children are loved. So loved. And because of all of that love, they are brave. When Craig and I sat them down to tell them about Abby I started by saying: ‘In our family, we live and tell the truth about who we are no matter what, and then love each other through it — and I’m about to show you how that’s done.'”

Yeah, whatever, she probably blogged similar sentiments about her now ex-husband at one time.  And can we observe that Abby Wambach wearing “Christian mommy blogger’s wife” on her sleeve, or her hoodie, is, at a minimum, cultural appropriation?  Wambach seems to wear it like a trophy, a sort of in-your-face message to Christians, and the mainstream media is happy to assist.   Almost like she wants you to forget that she and Melton had to pile up double divorces to get to this state of Christian Nirvana.

Like we said, one day we were celebrating diversity and inclusiveness over Wambach’s wife Sarah Huffman, the next day Wambach dumps her to be in the arms of a trophy Christian wife, who ditched her own spouse and father of her three kids for – heaven?

“My beloveds – please never give up on love. Life could surprise the hell out of you,” Doyle wrote on her Instagram page. “Trust me – you might just wake up one morning and find yourself smack dab in the middle of heaven. I love my wife. LOVE WINS.”

Not judging here.  If Melton says she’s a Christian, who are we to denigrate that?  Just seems conspicuous that one or two segments of culture in a habit of mocking Christians wants us to know this soap opera is Christian-friendly. And without the Christian thing, face it, Wambach and Melton are just Tarek and Christina from “Flip or Flop,” reality show stars. So they need to use the lens of the Christian thing to change what’s otherwise creepy tabloid fodder. It’s Christian mommy approved – now back off. Life moves fast. Nobody said inclusiveness would be easy We’ll check in with the happy couple in a year or two.

Yes she is Christian. And I just ate a delicious beef steak and some pork sausage. I love being a vegetarian. It’s great.
