Mark Hyden, coordinator with “Conservatives Concerned About The Death Penalty” came on to discuss their view the death penalty is not in alignment with conservative principles. Within this issue we discovered it costs more to execute a criminal than to keep them locked up due to the lengthily and very costly appeal process, some of which is required by law with or without the consent of the convicted. Mark also argued the frequency in which inmates are wrongly convicted due to factors like faulty evidence, testimony and inept attorneys is much greater than the public is aware. Also, the wear and tear on families of the victims as well as relatives of the convicted during the appeal process leaves mental scars seldom healed. Panel Contributor Scot Faulkner then joined us in our second hour to continue our discussion on Obama’s “scorched earth” strategies, particularly his Executive actions regarding Russia and his move against Israel by directing our UN representative to abstain from voting on the resolution to demand Israel concede and allow Palestine to claim land at the pre-1967 line.
