Satire site National Report posted a hoax piece about MSNBC anchor Alex Wagner resigning, saying,

In a resignation letter obtained by National Report, Wagner claims she has been spreading “lies on behalf of Obama” and using her position with MSNBC to “falsely promote a brutal dictator.”

Wagner goes on to say, “I have spent my entire professional career working toward a position based on false pretenses.  I have worked hard to obtain a position with a major news network and expected to be reporting on serious issues.  Instead, I am handed Pro-Obama scripts and asked to be a mouthpiece for the administration.”

Yeah, it was a hoax.

A caller to MSNBC got on the air earlier this week purporting to be an eyewitness to the MH17 crash and told the host he saw the plane shot down with “a blast of wind from Howard Stern’s ass” then called Krystal Ball a “dumb ass” before being cut off. [VIDEO].

It may not be true, but it’s all over google so if it’s untrue, this site that published it should be removed. We don’t need sites to post lies.

Sorry, gullible person. Freedom of speech, remember? If someone publishes something as a joke, i.e. a parody, they’re protected by the US constitution. Even if they’re out and out lying, they’re protected. Would you want the government putting you in jail or even just censoring you if they decided (for whatever reason) that you weren’t telling the truth? Sometimes I do wish liars were pulled off the air. That would rid us of Fox News right away.

Defamation of character isn’t taken lightly when dealing with “famous” individuals … wouldn’t be surprised if a lawsuit springs from this.

Um, no, Harry. Maybe in the UK–if this fake article came out of the UK–where the libel laws are very strong. No one ever wins these things in the US. It’s pretty obviously a parody and that’s the benchmark according to the US Supreme Court. Would an average person see this as a joke? If so it’s protected speech. That’s why Tina Fey gets to go on TV pretending to be Sarah Palin and act stupid.

Actually Fox News is “the only” believable network on the air. Liars that deserve to pulled off the air include ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, among others…If you want to believe lies, tune to one of these. Otherwise, stick with Fox.

          Excellent satire, Albert.

Gotta love the completely nonsensical quotation marks around “the only” in Albert’s posting. “Whatever.”

Loral O, read the Constitution. It says “freedom of speech,” not “freedom of nice, sweet, polite, civil speech.” Niceties do not need protection. Deal with it or leave and find a country where the CONTENT of your message is censored.

    • JohnT

You don’t know the exact meaning of “freedom of speech” , do you?

  • Eldon

Albert, you are right. And the biggest Pinocchio is YOU-KNOW-WHO, living like an emperor on the taxpayer, breaking every promise, hiding his skeletons regarding his medical and educational history, big ellipses in his background, no professors remember having him in their class, no ladies dashing around bragging about dating him (like they did and still do about Elvis), no fraternities show him in their membership rosters or party pictures . . . I’m quitting while I’m ahead, before my email is tracked and a drone bomb “accidentally” falls on my home.
